No Cover. No Shame. No Apologies.
What Is MASK OFF WALK?
MASK OFF WALK is a public visibility action led by people living with visible differences and appearance-related conditions. It is a collective walk through city streets, not to ask for permission, sympathy, or charity, but to claim space, dignity, and presence.
This is where appearance becomes public truth.
Why MASK OFF WALK Exists
Across Africa, people are taught to:
- Cover their skin
- Hide their scars
- Alter their appearance
- Apologise for being seen
MASK OFF WALK rejects this conditioning.
It affirms that:
- Visibility is not arrogance
- Difference is not disorder
- Presence is not protest, it is a right

How MASK OFF WALK Works
- Community-led, not performance-led
- Open to people with visible differences, skin conditions, appearance-related challenges, families, and allies
- Held in different cities as part of ASWALK Festival activations
- Designed for dignity, safety, and collective care
MASK OFF WALK & ASWALK FESTIVAL

- A pre-festival activation
